About the role
This part‑time (28 hours per week) fixed‑term (29 months) position is for a Professional Teaching Fellow who will help design and deliver a new Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science (Point‑of‑Care Ultrasound – POCUS) starting in 2027. The role blends clinical expertise with academic responsibilities, including curriculum development, teaching, learner supervision, and assessment.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and establishment of the Postgraduate Certificate in POCUS, including curriculum structure, learning outcomes, teaching materials and assessment frameworks.
- Deliver teaching across lectures, workshops and clinical learning contexts, including in‑person ultrasound workshops held two to three times per year.
- Facilitate hands‑on ultrasound training and support learners to translate POCUS skills into clinical practice.
- Provide longitudinal learner supervision through remote review of ultrasound scans.
- Support learners to overcome practical barriers to implementing POCUS in their workplace settings.
- Contribute to assessment activities, including marking, moderation and participation in final in‑person assessments.
- Maintain active clinical engagement to ensure teaching reflects current best practice in ultrasound and POCUS.
Required profile
- Clinically credible sonographer with a passion for education and adult learning in workplace‑based settings.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, learner‑centred teaching approach, and commitment to equitable, culturally responsive education.
- Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science (Ultrasound) with current registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board.
- Minimum five years’ experience as a qualified sonographer.
- Demonstrated experience applying point‑of‑care ultrasound in clinical practice.
