Product Designer, Design Systems

About the role

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is looking for a Product Designer focused on Design Systems to shape the foundations of its digital products. The role is based in New Zealand, preferably within commuting distance of the Wellington office.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve NZTE's design system, including reusable components, patterns and documentation.
• Improve consistency, accessibility and quality across customer‑facing digital products.
• Partner with product and technology teams to ensure high‑standard delivery of design solutions.
• Explore emerging technologies and help integrate AI thoughtfully into design practice.

Required profile

• Strong UI design capability and experience contributing to design systems.
• Proficiency in Figma and ability to create scalable component libraries.
• Systems thinking with a balance of customer needs, business goals and platform consistency.
• Curiosity about AI, emerging technologies and the future of digital design.
