Procurement Advisor

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Procurement Advisor to join our Finance Group and support the council’s procurement activities. The role offers the chance to develop expertise in tendering, sourcing and compliance within a values‑driven public‑sector environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support end‑to‑end procurement processes across the council, ensuring alignment with the Government Rules of Procurement and internal standards.
• Assist in the preparation and administration of RFx documentation, including sourcing, evaluation and supplier engagement.
• Provide guidance to non‑procurement staff on probity, compliance and best‑practice procedures.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to achieve professional and risk‑controlled outcomes.
• Contribute to cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience in a procurement or sourcing role, preferably within local government or the public sector.
• Strong commercial acumen, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a collaborative mindset.
• Understanding of Government Model Procurement templates and the Government Rules of Procurement.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
