Principal Engineer

About the role

ClearPoint is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead service decomposition and architectural evolution across its client portfolio. This senior, permanent position will be based in Auckland and will act as a strategic advisor to C‑suite clients, translating vision into actionable road‑maps.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the shift from monolithic to service‑based architectures for large‑scale digital transformations.
• Set enterprise technology strategy, governance, and guardrails to support a high‑performance engineering culture.
• Drive adoption of transformative technologies, including AI‑augmented delivery.
• Provide executive‑level advisory, storytelling, and cross‑practice collaboration.
• Identify commercial opportunities from business pain points and influence high‑stakes decisions.
• Occasional travel for client engagements.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in modern software engineering and proven success modernising monolithic applications.
• Extensive experience delivering large‑scale digital transformation projects.
• Strong client delivery and operations background.
• Executive presence with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
