Principal Data and AI Architect

About the role

NZ Post is looking for a Principal Data and AI Architect to shape the future of data and artificial intelligence across the organisation. You will define the direction of the data ecosystem, ensure solutions are scalable, secure and aligned with enterprise architecture, and act as a trusted advisor to technology and business leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture of scalable, responsible AI and data solutions that deliver measurable business value.
• Define architecture patterns, guardrails and standards for AI adoption at enterprise scale.
• Partner with architects, technology leaders, data specialists and business stakeholders to influence enterprise‑wide decisions.
• Guide teams to deliver production‑ready AI‑enabled capabilities and ensure alignment with risk and innovation goals.
• Champion responsible AI practices and promote practical, secure implementations.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an architect in complex enterprise environments.
• Strong track record delivering AI‑enabled and data‑driven solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business audiences.
• Ability to influence strategic decisions and build credibility across the organisation.
• Pragmatic approach that balances innovation, risk and outcomes.
