Postdoctoral Research Fellow – FinTech & AI/ML

About the role

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Department of Economics and Finance. The role focuses on cutting‑edge research in FinTech and artificial intelligence/machine learning applied to finance, supporting AUT’s strategic growth in digital finance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct high‑quality, publishable research in FinTech and AI/ML finance.
• Collaborate with academic staff on joint research projects.
• Assist with teaching, curriculum development, and capacity building in the emerging field.
• Contribute to the university’s research culture and community engagement.

Required profile

• PhD in Finance, Data Science, or a closely related discipline completed within the last five years.
• Demonstrated research capability with potential for high‑impact publications.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Enthusiasm for teaching development and interdisciplinary collaboration.
