About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Peer Support Worker to join Ember’s community services team in Rotorua. In this full-time, on-site position you will draw on your lived experience of mental health and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) challenges to support individuals on their recovery journey.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and group peer support, sharing personal insights to foster hope and empowerment.
- Assist clients in setting recovery goals, developing coping strategies and accessing community resources.
- Participate in case conferences and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate records of interactions while respecting confidentiality.
Required profile
- Personal experience of mental health and/or AOD challenges.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Commitment to a full-time, on-site schedule.
- Ability to work respectfully with diverse populations.
Required skills
What we offer
- Hourly rate of $25.63 – $30.70 (NZD) depending on qualifications.
- 5 days study leave and 2 days recreation leave per year.
- Double pay for work on public holidays.
- Allocated laptop, work phone and access to Ember pool vehicles for work purposes.
