Nurse Practitioner – Acute Care Clinic

About the role

Join a progressive acute care service delivering same‑day appointments and walk‑in assessments for patients with acute conditions. This permanent position works 32‑40 hours across 4‑5 days (Monday‑Friday) and offers autonomy within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent assessment, diagnosis and management of acute illnesses and minor injuries.
• Deliver same‑day and walk‑in care for presentations such as respiratory, urinary, skin infections, minor injuries, abdominal pain, ENT, musculoskeletal and childhood acute illnesses.
• Collaborate with GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Prescribers, Registered Nurses, HCAs and other health professionals.
• Maintain continuity of care within the general practice setting.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse Practitioner or highly experienced Registered Nurse Prescriber with autonomous practice.
• Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
• Excellent clinical assessment and decision‑making abilities.
• Confidence managing acute presentations independently.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a busy, patient‑focused environment and contribute innovative ideas.
