Night Manager

About the role

Join the Mercure Queenstown Resort team as a Night Manager, overseeing all hotel operations during the overnight shift. You will ensure smooth front‑desk service, accurate financial reconciliation, and a safe environment for guests and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage night audit, including financial reconciliation and reporting.
• Handle front‑desk duties such as check‑ins, check‑outs, guest requests, and complaints.
• Conduct regular security walks and maintain safety of guests, staff, and property.
• Perform light cleaning, maintain public areas, and assist with luggage and late arrivals.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Prepare handover reports for the morning team and collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies.
• Support front‑desk administrative tasks and basic housekeeping as needed.

Required profile

• Full NZ working rights.
• Liquor licence controller qualification and General Manager Certificate.
• Previous front‑office experience, preferably as a Night Auditor.
• Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Ability to work independently during overnight shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
• Physically capable of light cleaning and porter duties.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Opera PMS.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• General computer literacy and ability to use hotel systems.
