News Producer

About the role
We are looking for a dynamic News Producer to create compelling, accurate and balanced news bulletins for our Breakfast show. You will lead a team of producers, reporters and presenters, delivering standout daily content across broadcast and digital platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the on‑air broadcast of Breakfast news bulletins, adjusting for time, breaking stories and technical issues.
- Identify and deliver the day’s biggest stories to a Breakfast audience.
- Support Planning Producer, Senior Set‑Up Producer and EP Breakfast through handovers.
- Ensure editorial strength, legal compliance and refer contentious issues to EP Breakfast.
- Write, edit and subtitle rundowns for half‑hourly news bulletins.
- Lead and inspire the production team to maintain high‑quality daily news content.
- Drive editorial excellence and collaboration within the Breakfast team.
Required profile
- Strong experience in broadcast journalism and production.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- High‑level decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent organisational and project‑management capabilities.
- Proven editorial skills with knowledge of media law.
- Good general industry knowledge and keen awareness of local, national and international events.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and guide presenters and staff.
