MESM Cat A2 & B Operator

About the role

Frazer‑Nash Consultancy is seeking experienced MESM Cat A2 and Cat B operators to support its submarine engineering programmes. The role will be based in Glasgow (with options in Plymouth, Bristol or Warrington) and will involve a hybrid mix of office, client‑site and remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and maintain safety case documentation for naval nuclear reactor plants.
• Optimise maintenance scopes and support lifecycle extensions for submarines.
• Conduct hazard analyses (HAZID, functional hazard assessment) and ALARP assessments.
• Provide technical oversight for submarine classes and support AUKUS‑related projects.
• Assist civil nuclear power stations during planned outages and shore‑side infrastructure projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a MESM Cat A2 or Cat B operator in the submarine or commercial sector.
• Strong knowledge of submarine whole‑boat or nuclear safety cases and related analysis techniques.
• Demonstrated ability in risk management, hazard management and safety classification.
• Willingness to work in a flexible hybrid environment and travel to client sites as needed.
