Mechanical Fitter – Sawmill Maintenance

About the role

Waipapa Pine, part of Fletcher Building, is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join its maintenance team at the Waipapa sawmill near Kerikeri. This full‑time position offers a rotating roster that guarantees regular long weekends and a supportive, safety‑focused environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on sawmill equipment.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Install, upgrade, and commission new machinery as required.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimise downtime.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• Level 4 Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting.
• 5+ years experience in sawmill or heavy‑industrial settings (preferred).
• Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings.
• Forklift OSH or F endorsement and comfortable working at heights.
