Mechanical Engineer – Buildings Team

About the role

Stantec’s Buildings team in New Zealand is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join a high‑performing group that delivers end‑to‑end projects for mission‑critical facilities such as data centres, healthcare, laboratories and education buildings. The role offers the chance to work on a variety of low‑rise to high‑rise projects while contributing technical expertise to drive successful outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys, field investigations and feasibility studies for proposed projects.
• Produce calculations, specifications and drawings across concept, preliminary, developed and detailed design stages.
• Prepare proposals, reports and fee estimates to support business development.
• Maintain client communication and develop ongoing contacts as required.
• Provide budgeting and revenue expenditure input, understanding financial impacts of design decisions.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer with experience on a range of building projects.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with senior staff for guidance.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills applied to technical design.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction and team coordination.
