Mechanical Design Engineer – Relocation to Christchurch, NZ

About the role

Caliber Design is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its permanent team in Christchurch, New Zealand. The position offers full visa and relocation support and provides the opportunity to work on diverse engineering projects across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate directly with client teams on engineering projects lasting 3‑6 months.
• Design machinery, industrial equipment, processing plants and capital‑project components.
• Create detailed 3‑D models and 2‑D drawings using CAD software.
• Perform engineering analysis, including finite‑element analysis where required.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and internal engineering teams.

Required profile

• Approximately 5+ years of mechanical, machine or product‑design experience.
• Strong hands‑on CAD and detailed‑design background.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Practical experience in machinery, manufacturing, industrial equipment or product development.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with clients.
• Interest in staying focused on detailed engineering rather than moving into management.
