Maths Specialist Teacher (Secondary) – Empower Futures

About the role

Progress Schools, an Alternative Provision provider in the Tees Valley, is looking for a passionate Maths Specialist to join our secondary team. You will work with small classes, build strong relationships, and deliver engaging maths lessons to pupils who need a personalised, nurturing approach.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high‑quality maths curriculum for secondary‑aged students.
• Manage classroom behaviour and create a supportive learning environment.
• Assess student progress and provide targeted feedback.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and fellow staff to develop inclusive teaching strategies.
• Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and mentorship.

Required profile

• Degree in a relevant teaching subject (Maths preferred) or equivalent.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS, or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for maths education.
• Ability to engage learners, support their ambitions and provide emotional support.
• Experience or interest in working with pupils who have faced barriers to learning.
