About the role
The Manager Clinical Advisory will lead a high‑performing team of clinical and technical experts within the Ministry of Health’s Strategy and Policy group. Based in Wellington, this permanent full‑time role shapes evidence‑informed health policy, ensures clinical quality and patient safety, and influences national health outcomes across New Zealand.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Clinical Advisory team, providing strategic direction and people leadership.
- Shape and deliver the team’s work programme, aligning clinical advice with Ministry, Government and health sector priorities.
- Champion clinical quality, patient safety and evidence‑based practice, integrating clinical advice into policy and programme development.
- Manage complex programmes, monitor risks and ensure high‑quality outputs are delivered on time.
- Build influential partnerships across the Ministry, health sector, government and stakeholders while embedding Ministry values and Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities.
Required profile
- Advanced clinical, health, science or research expertise with a strong understanding of New Zealand’s health system.
- Proven leadership experience building and developing high‑performing multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in clinical governance, evidence‑based practice and integrating clinical advice into policy.
- Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship‑building skills with diverse stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking, resilience and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
