Management Accountant

About the role

This permanent position in Wellington offers a unique chance to work within the NZ Transport Agency’s finance team, focusing on product volumes, revenue streams and cost drivers. You will turn complex cost, volume and revenue data into actionable insight that supports future funding decisions and improves value for money across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality financial insight, reporting, forecasting and performance analysis linked to operational drivers.
• Analyse financial performance across cost, volume and activity drivers and develop clear cost‑allocation models.
• Partner with finance and business leaders to build understanding of cost drivers, funding streams and financial performance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of financial reporting, modelling and insight in a complex regulatory environment.
• Communicate complex financial information in an accessible way to non‑financial stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong experience in management accounting, including forecasting, modelling and performance reporting.
• Proven ability to analyse financial performance across cost, volume and activity drivers.
• Experience with complex cost structures, allocations and multiple funding streams.
• Strong analytical capability and ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills for non‑financial audiences.
• Collaborative, curious approach with strong relationship‑building skills.
• CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
