Maintenance Specialist II – Facilities Operations

About the role

Henderson Community College seeks a Maintenance Specialist II to support campus facilities by performing routine and moderately complex maintenance, repair, and operational tasks. The role ensures that buildings, grounds, and equipment remain safe, functional, and ready for all campus activities.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks such as moving equipment/furniture, furniture assembly, light carpentry, drywall installation, painting, light masonry, locksmithing, appliance maintenance, light welding, and basic pest control.
• Conduct facility inspections, monitor cleanliness, and assist with custodial duties as needed.
• Maintain presentable grounds through landscaping, tree and bush trimming, litter removal, and weed control.
• Support setup, coordination, and breakdown of institutional events and operational activities.
• Identify workflow improvements, recommend procedural enhancements, and ensure operational efficiency.
• Monitor safety practices, conduct regular safety inspections, and ensure compliance with campus safety standards.
• Diagnose maintenance issues and propose solutions in line with Maintenance & Operations guidelines.

Required profile

• Associate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years of relevant maintenance or facilities operations experience.
• Strong technical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.
