Maintenance General Hand – Hawke's Bay

About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance General Hand to join our Tomoana team in Hawke’s Bay. The role involves supporting plant operations, site housekeeping and waste management on a day shift (7:00 am – 4:00 pm). You will work in a dynamic environment with opportunities for growth within The Kraft Heinz Company.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the DAF plant safely, perform routine checks and basic upkeep such as cleaning the pH probe.
• Maintain plant and site housekeeping, keeping work areas clean, tidy and hygienic.
• Respond to spills and incidents, contain and report them, and escalate major issues to the Site Services & Maintenance Manager.
• Manage sludge and waste streams, including sludge bin changeovers and safe handling in line with environmental requirements.
• Coordinate waste removal with the Maintenance Planner to ensure timely collection of general waste and recyclables.
• Perform grounds and external area maintenance – site clean‑ups, water blasting, operating grounds equipment (e.g., “goat”), and basic landscaping.
• Provide general site services, assist contractors, carry out basic handyman tasks and report hazards promptly.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in groundskeeping, waste management, site services or general maintenance.
• Comfortable with plant operations; DAF or water‑treatment exposure is ideal but training will be provided.
• Physically fit, reliable and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communicator, team player and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.
• Organised, adaptable and able to support a 24/7 operation, including occasional call‑outs.
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office and site systems.
