Maintenance Engineer - Parcel Sorting Machinery

About the role

New Zealand Post is looking for a Maintenance Engineer in Christchurch to service and maintain its parcel and letter sorting machinery, keeping it fit for purpose and meeting operational needs. The role covers fault finding, fixing issues as they arise and regular planned maintenance. It suits a trade-qualified engineer or electrician, and offers full training and support to develop electrical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Fault find and fix issues on parcel and letter sorting machinery as they arise
• Carry out regular planned maintenance
• Keep machinery running smoothly and efficiently in a dynamic environment

Required profile

• Experienced maintenance engineer, maintenance fitter, industrial electrician or maintenance electrician
• Practical problem solver who stays calm and logical under pressure
• Positive and flexible attitude
• Either New Zealand Electrical Registration (papers A & B) or Mechanical Engineering qualification
• At least 2 years as an electrical or mechanical technician
• Control system or programming experience is desirable
• Fault-finding and repair experience on live machinery; exposure to automation is beneficial
