Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Gallagher is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join its Pukekohe manufacturing team on a day shift (6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday‑Friday). Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing plant equipment to ensure reliability, safety, and production targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance according to schedules.
• Respond to breakdowns and complete timely repairs.
• Identify machine faults and recommend reliability improvements.
• Record work and maintenance activity in the CMMS.
• Support Lean/5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in Practical Problem Solving (PPS) and root‑cause analysis.
• Collaborate with supervisors, production teams, and external contractors.
• Maintain a safe, organised, and high‑performing work environment.

Required profile

• Degree or technical certification in Engineering, Maintenance or related field (Level 4).
• At least 3 years of trade‑qualified engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding capability and ability to work unsupervised.
• Excellent time‑management, communication and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, motors and industrial systems.
• Familiarity with CMMS, Excel and SAP.
• Knowledge of Lean principles, 5S, PPS and root‑cause analysis.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Fusion 360 and CNC systems.
