Maintenance Engineer – Food Production

About the role

Silver Fern Farms Dargaville is seeking a motivated Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team. You will help keep production running smoothly in a dynamic food‑processing environment, working on a rotating 4‑on/4‑off 12‑hour shift schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment.
• Diagnose faults, analyse root causes and implement effective fixes.
• Collaborate with the wider maintenance team to ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Plan and prioritise workload to meet production targets.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Required profile

• Relevant trades qualification (e.g., Level 4 Mechanical Diagnostics, Fitter/Turner, Fitter/Welder, Automotive Engineer, LV/HD Mechanic).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a tight‑knit team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Self‑motivated, organised and able to manage workload in a challenging environment.
• Willingness to learn and upskill, potentially into electrical, refrigeration or project design.
