Maintenance Electrician – Industrial Food Processing

About the role

Silver Fern Farms in Hāwera is seeking a motivated Maintenance Electrician to join its engineering team. You will be responsible for day‑to‑day electrical reliability, repairs and maintenance on a large industrial food‑processing site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective electrical maintenance across the plant.
• Diagnose faults, implement solutions and ensure first‑time fixes.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and projects.
• Work on a rotating 45‑hour fortnightly roster covering day and night shifts.
• Collaborate with the wider engineering team to improve reliability and safety.

Required profile

• Relevant trades qualification with full NZ EWRB electrical registration.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a tight‑knit maintenance team.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Self‑motivated, organised and able to prioritise workload in a challenging environment.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance and repair on industrial equipment.
• Experience or exposure to PLC systems.
• Familiarity with Variable Speed Drives (VSDs).
