About the role
The Library & Council Services Assistant will support the Mahurangi East Library team in delivering high‑quality library services to a fast‑growing community. This part‑time role (24 hours per week) involves working across multiple sites in the Rodney local board area, including Warkworth and Wellsford.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the day‑to‑day running of the library, including circulation, shelving and customer enquiries.
- Provide support for library programmes, events and community activities.
- Work flexibly across Mahurangi East, Warkworth and Wellsford libraries as required.
- Maintain library technology, help patrons use devices and digital resources.
- Manage social‑media updates and promote library services online.
Required profile
- Strong people skills and a genuine passion for customer service.
- Flexible, adaptable and able to work weekends and varied shifts.
- Can‑do attitude, reliable and idea‑driven.
- Understanding and respect for Te Ao Māori values and principles.
- Experience working with diverse community members.
Required skills
- Confidence using digital tools and social‑media platforms.
- Ability to learn and operate library programming systems.
- Comfort supporting patrons with information resources and devices.
