Legal Counsel

About the role

Serko is looking for a Legal Counsel to provide pragmatic, timely legal advice across its global travel‑tech business. You will support strategic objectives, ensure compliance with NZX and ASX governance, and help shape the company’s legal operations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide commercial and operational legal support, drafting and negotiating customer, reseller, strategic partner and third‑party technology agreements.
• Collaborate with business, security and technology teams to source products and services from trusted suppliers.
• Advise on global privacy and cookie laws (GDPR, CCPA, AU/NZ Privacy Acts) and monitor relevant legislative developments.
• Support corporate governance, NZX/ASX compliance, annual shareholders meeting requirements, and corporate reporting including ESG and climate‑related disclosures.
• Manage share‑scheme mechanics, internal policy suites, legal templates and subsidiary compliance obligations.
• Drive legal operations and capability building through legal tech, automation, stakeholder training and external counsel management.

Required profile

• Experience in private practice or in‑house legal roles handling corporate law and governance matters.
• Strong stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proactive approach to anticipate operational needs.
• Analytical, problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
• Bachelor of Laws degree and a current practising certificate in New Zealand.
