Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Statistical Data Science

About the role

Massey University’s School of Mathematical & Computational Sciences is seeking a permanent, full‑time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Statistical Data Science to join its Albany Campus in Auckland. The role combines high‑quality teaching, research leadership, and academic citizenship within a vibrant, distance‑learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Statistics and Data Science, both face‑to‑face and online.
• Develop and maintain major curriculum components, ensuring they meet diverse learner needs.
• Supervise postgraduate research students and postdoctoral fellows.
• Maintain an active research programme, publish in reputable outlets, and present at national and international conferences.
• Seek internal and external research funding and build collaborative partnerships.
• Participate in departmental meetings, seminars, committees, and contribute to a positive, inclusive community aligned with the Treaty of Waitangi.

Required profile

• PhD in Statistics, Data Science or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with interest in online/distance education.
• Experience or willingness to supervise postgraduate researchers.
• Active research record with potential to secure funding and develop collaborations.
• Collegial attitude and commitment to university policies and inclusive practice.
