Learning Assistant (Part-time)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Learning Assistant to join Mt Carmel School on a part‑time basis. You will work on‑site in Meadowbank, providing tailored support to students with additional needs, both individually and in small groups.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one assistance to students, helping them engage with classroom activities and assignments.
• Support small‑group learning sessions, adapting materials to meet diverse learning requirements.
• Implement and follow individualized education plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teachers.
• Monitor student progress, record observations, and communicate updates to teaching staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a cohesive support approach.

Required profile

• Experience or interest in supporting children with additional needs.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work reliably on a part‑time, on‑site schedule.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments.
