Leading Hand – Service Workshop

About the role

Komatsu New Zealand is seeking an experienced tradesperson to join our Auckland branch as a Leading Hand Service. Working closely with the Service Supervisor, you will coordinate daily workshop activities, mentor technicians and apprentices, and ensure that all work meets our high safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and oversee daily workshop tasks to achieve safe, efficient, and productive outcomes.
• Provide on‑the‑job coaching and guidance to technicians and apprentices.
• Plan jobs, monitor progress, and assist with estimates and quotations.
• Maintain quality assurance, safety standards, and operating procedures.
• Liaise with customers and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and cost management.

Required profile

• Trade qualification with relevant heavy‑equipment, mechanical or industrial experience.
• Previous experience as a Leading Hand, supervisor or team leader.
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capability.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and prioritise workshop activities.
• Excellent communication and customer‑relationship skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
• Computer literacy and basic administrative ability.
• Current driver’s licence.
