Kitchen Staff Substitute (On‑Call)

About the role

We are looking for a flexible Kitchen Staff Substitute to support our food service operations on an as‑needed basis across multiple Midwest locations. You will help maintain food quality, safety, and service standards while assisting with daily kitchen tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Set up serving lines daily and ensure food is held at required temperatures.
• Assist in food preparation according to menu plans and Opaa! recipes.
• Operate slicers, mixers, grinders, and other certified equipment.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow FIFO inventory practices.
• Handle dishwashing, chemical usage, and equipment maintenance.
• Record production data, temperature logs, and comply with HACCP and CACFP regulations.
• Serve food portions with proper utensils and present items appealingly.
• Handle customer monies and make change when required.

Required profile

• Ability to perform essential kitchen functions on an as‑needed basis.
• Commitment to food safety, hygiene, and compliance with safety procedures.
• Willingness to work onsite and adapt to varying schedules.

Required skills

• Operation of kitchen equipment (slicers, mixers, grinders) with certification.
• Food safety knowledge (HACCP, HHFKA, CACFP).
• Inventory management using FIFO methodology.
• Cash handling and basic customer service.
