About the role

This newly created Key Account Manager position is with a large, nationally connected transport and services organisation in New Zealand. You will lead strategic client relationships, ensuring high‑quality service delivery while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and manage strategic client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Oversee service performance, resolve issues, and provide regular reporting to clients.
  • Partner with operational teams to support service delivery, continuous improvement, and contract mobilisation.
  • Use data and insights to monitor performance, identify improvement opportunities, and drive service enhancements.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives, especially around process and technology improvements that enhance the customer experience.
  • Gradually expand focus to broader commercial and business development activities.

Required profile

  • Proven experience in key account management, preferably with large, complex or high‑value clients.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to work independently, influence others, and build trust within a diverse partner network.
  • Experience handling queries, resolving issues, and delivering high‑level service in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Commercial judgement to balance client needs, operational realities, and long‑term business goals.
  • Comfort with reporting and performance data to spot trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Proactive, solutions‑focused, and resilient mindset.
