Junior Sous Chef

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Sous Chef to join Colonel’s Homestead, supporting the Senior Sous Chef in delivering high‑quality dishes and smooth kitchen operations. This full‑time, permanent position offers the chance to develop leadership skills in one of New Zealand’s iconic hospitality settings.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in supervising and coordinating your designated kitchen section.
• Prepare, cook, and plate dishes to consistently high standards.
• Mentor and guide junior team members, acting as a positive role model.
• Prioritise tasks and delegate work to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Uphold strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards.
• Contribute to menu development, seasonal dishes, and daily specials.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Strong technical culinary skills and a passion for quality.
• Proven ability to prioritise tasks and support team coordination.
• Confident in mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Positive attitude with willingness to learn and grow.
