Junior SOC Analyst

About the role

We are looking for a Junior SOC Analyst to join our growing cybersecurity operations team in Auckland. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in security monitoring, incident triage, investigation and response within a collaborative Security Operations Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor security platforms such as SIEM, EDR and IDS to detect potential threats.
• Review, triage and investigate alerts using established playbooks.
• Escalate incidents to senior analysts while developing investigative skills.
• Document incidents, investigations and remediation activities accurately.
• Support basic network and host‑based analysis during investigations.
• Participate in team meetings, training sessions and knowledge‑sharing activities.
• Contribute ideas to improve operational processes and workflows.

Required profile

• Genuine interest in cybersecurity and a desire to build a career in security operations.
• Recent graduate, career‑changer or IT professional looking to specialise in defensive security.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured processes.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from experienced professionals.
• Relevant degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, IT or equivalent practical experience.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of SIEM platforms.
• Familiarity with EDR solutions.
• Understanding of IDS technologies.
• Fundamental networking concepts, including TCP/IP.
• Basic knowledge of operating systems.
