Java Software Engineer (Contract, Hybrid)

About the role

Synechron is seeking a Java Software Engineer to join its Auckland team on a 6‑month contract, with the possibility of extension. The position is hybrid and requires full working rights for New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Java 8+ applications using Spring Boot.
• Design and implement microservices using REST, API Gateway and Service Discovery patterns.
• Deploy and manage services on AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch).
• Containerize applications with Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Implement security mechanisms such as OAuth2 and JWT.
• Monitor performance, logging and tune applications for optimal operation.
