IT Helpdesk Technician – Part-time Fixed-term (6 months)

About the role

Join the Technology team at a leading engineering and environmental consultancy as an IT Helpdesk Technician. This part‑time, six‑month fixed‑term role is based in the Auckland CBD office and offers comprehensive on‑the‑job training to develop your IT support skills.

Key responsibilities

• First‑response support – manage walk‑up requests, urgent calls and service tickets, triage and resolve issues that prevent users from working.
• Repair and fix hardware – troubleshoot laptops, workstations, tablets, printers and meeting‑room technology.
• Install, configure and maintain a variety of software applications.
• Device provisioning – set up laptops for new starters and upgrade existing devices.
• Build rapport and communicate clearly with employees via in‑person, phone, instant message or email.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps and Security teams to resolve complex issues.
• Proactive support – identify recurring problems and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of internal IT Helpdesk experience in a medium‑to‑large organisation or MSP.
• Strong customer‑first mindset, calm under pressure and empathetic.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work collaboratively with the wider Technology team.

Required skills
