Inventory Controller

About the role

SYOS is seeking an Inventory Controller to set up and run a new stores operation at its Mount Maunganui site. The role will ensure accurate inventory, timely kitting for production and smooth material flow supporting the company’s robotics and aerospace manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a structured stores layout, including bin locations, labeling and workflow.
• Maintain stock records in Excel and ERP/MRP systems, conduct cycle counts and full stocktakes, and resolve discrepancies.
• Receive goods, verify quantities, book inventory and manage put‑away, including handling non‑conforming items.
• Prepare kits for production, coordinate with planning, engineering and production to manage shortages and priorities.
• Introduce and manage Kanban systems for material replenishment and visual control.
• Create inventory dashboards and reports using advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
• Support procurement and logistics during peak periods and handle urgent supplier orders.

Required profile

• Proven experience setting up and organising stores or warehouse operations.
• Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, Sage or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Excellent attention to detail, problem‑solving ability and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Willingness to obtain a forklift licence (or existing licence).

• Kanban and lean manufacturing principles.
