Intermediate/Senior CNS Maintenance Technician

About the role

Airways is seeking an Intermediate or Senior Technician to join the Auckland Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) Maintenance Team. The role is permanent, full‑time and based at the Auckland Technical Centre, supporting the reliability and safety of New Zealand’s air navigation infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify faults in CNS equipment and systems.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure system availability.
• Install, test and commission new CNS hardware.
• Provide 24/7 on‑call support, including night and weekend shifts as required.
• Work in varied outdoor and weather conditions across the national network.

Required profile

• Experienced technician with a self‑motivated, collaborative attitude.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
• Quality‑focused and technically competent.
• Relevant engineering qualification such as a Bachelor of Engineering Technology, NZCE Telecommunications, Supplementary Radio Technicians Certificate or an Electro‑Technology Diploma in Telecommunications (or equivalent).
