About the role
Russell McVeagh is seeking an experienced banking and finance lawyer to join its leading team in Wellington. The successful candidate will work closely with senior partners on a range of complex transactions, contributing to the firm’s reputation for excellence in the sector.
Key responsibilities
- Advise and structure banking and finance transactions for corporate clients.
- Draft and negotiate loan agreements, security documents, and related contracts.
- Collaborate with partners and other practice groups to deliver integrated legal solutions.
- Conduct due diligence and provide commercial risk assessments.
- Support junior lawyers and contribute to business development initiatives.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of post‑qualification experience in banking and finance law, either in New Zealand or overseas.
- Strong academic record from a recognised law school.
- Demonstrated ability to play a key role in complex transactions.
- Excellent collaborative and communication skills.
- Strong technical and commercial acumen.
