Intermediate & Senior Transport Engineer / Designer

About the role

We are seeking intermediate to senior Transport Engineers and Designers to join our Aotearoa Transport Team. The role involves delivering high‑quality, design‑focused transport projects across urban infrastructure, roads, intersections, active modes and public transport.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to technically robust transport solutions, ensuring programme, budget and quality targets are met.
• Prepare, review and manage technical documentation, reports, specifications and schedules for a variety of transport projects.
• Apply best‑practice guidance and champion safety‑in‑design initiatives in line with New Zealand standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that address stakeholder needs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and national transportation clients.
• Mentor junior staff and support knowledge transfer within the team.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering transport engineering or design outputs in accordance with New Zealand standards.
• Technical qualification in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• Ability to analyse and interpret transport engineering problems using sound theoretical knowledge.
• Strong working knowledge of Waka Kotahi (NZTA) guidelines and best practices.
