Industrial Electrician – Maintenance (Lichfield)

About the role

Fonterra is looking for an experienced Industrial Electrician to join the Maintenance Team at its Lichfield site in the Waikato region. The role focuses on electrical and instrumentation maintenance to ensure reliable, high‑performance plant operations in a fast‑paced, highly automated dairy environment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical breakdowns across high‑voltage, instrumentation, and process‑control systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and root‑cause failure analysis on plant equipment.
• Support continuous‑improvement projects and implement reliability‑focused strategies.
• Work with PLC automation systems and maintain instrumentation for whey, cheese, and milk‑powder production lines.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to minimise downtime and ensure safety compliance.

Required profile

• Calm and effective under pressure when responding to unplanned breakdowns.
• Strong problem‑solving ability with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Current New Zealand Electrical Registration with a practising licence.
• Industrial electrical maintenance experience, including equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with PLC automation systems and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with high‑voltage systems and process‑control environments.
• Good computer literacy; SAP experience is desirable.
• Experience in the food, dairy, or farming sector is a plus.
