Housekeeping Team Lead – Hospital

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Housekeeping Team Lead to join our modern private surgical hospital in New Plymouth. Reporting to the Support Services Manager, you will lead a dedicated housekeeping team to ensure a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate day‑to‑day housekeeping operations across clinical and non‑clinical areas.
• Oversee rostering, workload allocation and workflow management.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members, leading by example.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Identify and implement continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with clinical and support departments to meet service expectations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in housekeeping, cleaning or healthcare support services.
• Previous supervisory or leadership experience with a proven ability to motivate a team.
• Experience in a regulated healthcare or medical cleaning environment is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of cleaning practices, hygiene standards and health‑and‑safety requirements.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Proactive mindset with problem‑solving abilities.
