Hospitality Tutor – Maternity Cover (Full‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

New Zealand Management Academies (NZMA) is seeking a full‑time Hospitality Tutor on a fixed‑term basis to cover maternity leave until December 2026. You will deliver the NZ Certificate in Hospitality Level 4, guiding students to become skilled professionals in food, wine, and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Teach the Level 4 Hospitality curriculum, focusing on real‑world skills and industry standards.
• Organise and lead site visits to breweries, vineyards, tourism attractions, and local cafés.
• Collaborate with industry partners to provide external learning opportunities.
• Support students in obtaining their License Controller Certification and understanding wine varietals and food‑wine pairings.
• Mentor students to develop both technical knowledge and soft skills required by employers.

Required profile

• Recent experience in the hospitality sector with strong knowledge of food, wine, and customer experience.
• Relevant qualification at Level 5 or above.
• Background in the food and wine industry; supervisory or management experience is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate young adults.
• Formal teaching experience is not essential.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of food service operations.
• Understanding of wine varieties and pairing principles.
• Ability to plan and execute industry‑based field trips.
