Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Primary School

About the role

Ribbons & Reeves are recruiting a Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a welcoming, community‑focused primary school in Redbridge. The successful candidate will support the primary phase by covering lessons during PPA time and in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring continuity of learning and high expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver whole‑class teaching and cover lessons independently when required.
• Provide targeted interventions and one‑to‑one or small‑group support for pupils with additional learning needs.
• Maintain a calm, purposeful learning environment through effective behaviour management.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider community.

Required profile

• Level 4 teaching qualification or higher.
• Proven experience covering classes independently.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND and additional needs.
• Confident, organised and enthusiastic about primary education.
