Healthcare Assistant – Upper Hutt

About the role
Oceania is seeking compassionate Healthcare Assistants to join its villages in Upper Hutt, New Zealand. In this role you will support older residents to live with dignity, independence and comfort, delivering person‑centred care in a safe and respectful environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personal care while maintaining dignity, privacy and comfort.
- Assist residents with daily activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition and hydration.
- Observe and respond to physical and emotional needs, escalating concerns when required.
- Build warm, respectful relationships with residents, families and whānau.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment that promotes wellbeing and independence.
- Follow individual care plans and collaborate closely with Registered Nurses.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with residents, families and the wider team.
- Uphold health, safety and infection‑control practices.
Required profile
- Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Caregiver or similar role.
- A compassionate, patient and respectful approach to caring for older adults.
- Clear communication skills and a strong team‑focused mindset.
- Commitment to safety, dignity and resident‑centred care.
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and night shifts.
