Health & Safety Manager – New Zealand

About the role

DHL Express is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead the implementation of its safety strategy across New Zealand operations. You will ensure compliance with legislation, embed best practices, and foster a proactive safety culture throughout both operational and corporate environments.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to and implement DHL’s Health & Safety strategy aligned with business goals and global standards.
• Develop and execute operational H&S plans, initiatives, and budgets.
• Drive safety improvement projects and ensure compliance with New Zealand health and safety legislation.
• Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation measures.
• Lead incident investigations, audits, and corrective‑action processes.
• Establish and maintain safety standards, frameworks, and tools.
• Develop and oversee emergency response and evacuation procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections across operational and administrative facilities.
• Deliver safety training, coaching, and awareness programmes.
• Promote a proactive safety culture and continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external providers to strengthen safety outcomes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of experience in Health & Safety roles, preferably within logistics, transport, or operations.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience in audits, investigations, and safety management systems.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement and influencing abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Effective communication, facilitation, and training delivery skills.
