Health & Safety Coordinator

About the role

With around 900–1000 people working at the Takapau plant during peak season, health and safety is at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to strengthen on‑site capability, join a team of two coordinators and support the Health & Safety Manager in delivering a proactive, best‑practice approach to risk management, injury prevention and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Support and coordinate implementation of H&S frameworks, policies and processes at site level, ensuring company and legislative compliance.
• Lead proactive risk assessments, hazard management and emergency preparedness to strengthen safety culture.
• Deliver training and induction sessions, upskilling leaders and employees in safe work practices.
• Support incident investigations, identify root causes, follow up actions and share learnings.
• Manage reporting and insights for the plant, providing robust H&S data.
• Support injury management programmes, rehabilitation plans and wellbeing initiatives.
• Engage with production teams, leaders and employees to build trust and a culture of safety.

Required profile

• Qualification in Health & Safety with 2–5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, incident management and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, comfortable engaging with frontline staff to managers.
• Confidence using databases and reporting systems to turn data into actionable insights.
• Proactive, solutions‑focused approach with ability to influence culture and embed safe practices.
