Health Improvement Practitioner (General Practice)

About the role

The Health Improvement Practitioner will join The Doctors’ general practice team in Kerikeri to expand access to wellbeing and behavioural health services. Working directly with patients and their families, you will help improve mental health outcomes and support the practice in delivering high‑quality care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide evidence‑based psychological and behavioural interventions to individuals and families.
• Collaborate with the general practice team to integrate wellbeing services into routine care.
• Offer consultations and advice to practice staff on mental health and wellbeing matters.
• Support the development of team capabilities in delivering health improvement interventions.
• Promote culturally safe practice with an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi.

Required profile

• Registered health professional with a current annual practising certificate (Health Practitioner Competence and Assurance Act, DAPAANZ, or Social Work Registration Authority).
• Clinical experience in a mental health setting (primary or secondary) delivering evidence‑based interventions.
• Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and commitment to culturally responsive care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; confident, friendly and approachable.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit.
