Head of Institutional Client Coverage – South Island

About the role

As Head of Client Coverage Institutional – South Island you will lead ANZ’s Institutional teams in Christchurch, drive the bank’s strategic growth agenda for the region, and support frontline teams to build strong customer engagement. You will manage a portfolio of key Institutional customers, influence senior decision‑makers, and oversee a team of relationship managers while coordinating product support for the South Island customer base.

Key responsibilities

• Lead frontline teams to drive strong customer engagement and relationship management outcomes.
• Act as the face of Institutional South Island to the market and within ANZ.
• Manage key Institutional client relationships and drive growth outcomes.
• Identify and execute opportunities across the region, coordinating with product teams and the wider ANZ South Island organisation.
• Deliver financial performance and growth across all product segments.
• Collaborate with other Institutional areas to ensure execution of strategy and initiatives such as customer growth, retention, and change programmes.
• Directly lead the Corporate relationship team, ensuring strategic alignment and operational excellence.
• Influence and support Property Finance, Transactional Banking and Markets teams through collaboration and shared priorities.

Required profile

• Excellent leadership ability with proven banking experience and a track record of coaching and developing staff.
• Strong customer‑service focus, relationship‑management, stakeholder‑management, networking and negotiation skills.
• Experience implementing initiatives that improve customer experience and fulfilment.
• Change‑agile mindset with the ability to manage complexity, ambiguity and conflicting demands.
• Data‑driven decision‑maker who uses data to interpret, draw insights and confirm decisions.
• Strong knowledge of credit risk and non‑financial risk management frameworks, including the regulatory environment.
