General Practitioner

About the role

The University of Auckland is seeking an experienced General Practitioner to join its student health service. You will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care to a diverse university community, working alongside doctors, nurses, counsellors and psychologists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive health assessments, diagnoses and treatments in line with best practice.
• Deliver patient‑centred care that addresses both physical and mental wellbeing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure integrated care.
• Manage referrals, documentation, follow‑up and case management promptly.
• Support preventative health initiatives, including screenings, vaccinations and health education.
• Offer travel health advice and vaccinations as needed.
• Assess aegrotat applications and provide academic health advocacy.
• Build relationships with internal and external healthcare providers and referral agencies.

Required profile

• Compassionate clinician with a calm, professional approach.
• Registered medical practitioner in New Zealand with a current NZMC practising certificate and indemnity insurance.
• Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.
• At least two years of General Practice experience, preferably including primary or emergency care.
• Current CPR or Advanced Life Support certification.
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment and with young adult, diverse communities.
• Confidence using clinical practice management software such as MedTech.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MedTech or similar practice management software.
