Full Stack Software Engineer

About the role

Tourwriter is looking for an intermediate Full Stack Software Engineer to join our hybrid team in Wellington on a 1‑year fixed‑term contract. You will work closely with senior engineers and product managers to design, build and maintain features that power the world’s leading bespoke travel designers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain both frontend (React) and backend (Node.js) components.
• Build intuitive, responsive user interfaces and robust APIs.
• Develop backend services using Node.js and PostgreSQL, integrating with external systems via REST and WebSockets.
• Write clean, well‑tested code and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Use AI tools to accelerate development, reviewing AI‑generated suggestions critically.
• Support production issues, improve system reliability, performance and scalability.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in full‑stack development.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
• Strong ownership mindset and problem‑solving attitude.
• Eagerness to grow technical skills and experiment with AI‑augmented workflows.
