Full Stack Software Engineer (C#/.NET, React)

About the role

Smartly is a fast‑growing FinTech SaaS company that helps over 20,000 New Zealand businesses manage payroll. As a Full Stack Software Engineer you will contribute to the Smartly Payroll System, delivering new features and maintaining a high‑quality product.

Key responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day delivery of assigned features, from clarification to production verification.
• Collaborate with the team to estimate effort, raise risks early, and communicate progress.
• Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and adherence to security and performance standards.
• Leverage modern tooling, automation and AI‑assisted development to improve efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers and support their growth through constructive feedback.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Strong recent experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem (minimum 2 years).
• Proficiency in front‑end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and React or ASP.NET Razor.
• Good grasp of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles and OOP.
• Experience with Git and service‑oriented frameworks.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills; Azure exposure is a plus.
